AVS (Audio and Video Coding Standards) is the first Chinese proprietary standards of coding and decoding for digital audio and video signals. The standard represents an advanced compression technology in the world and establishes a foundation for audio/vedio product development in China, such as high definition digital television, high definition laser video disc player, IPTV, and other devices. For video communications, AVS supports transport protocolses for satellite broadcast, ground broadcast, cable TV and IP networks.
